ClayGround - Ceramic Art Studio and School

We offer ceramic art classes for both children (5+ years) and adults, after school classes, birthday parties, events, school projects & summer camps and customer firing (at oxidation up to cone 10).

Regular Clay Classes - Hands on Wet Clay or Pottery Wheel Thrown

The fee includes studio time, tools, supplies, glazes and firing costs. You may buy whatever clay you want to use yourself. After the project is finished, we will fire it to 2000℉. The fired ceramic will be rock hard and can be kept forever. The projects will be able to be picked up within two weeks.

The fee includes instruction, clay, glaze materials and firing fee. The project will be fired at the temperature of 2000℉. The fired ceramic will be rock hard and can be kept forever. The projects will be able to be picked up within two weeks.

Discount: 5% off for 2nd siblings or family members when signed up 5 or 10 sessions together. Regular ceramic classes can be 1 or 2-hour sessions per week.

Studio Time

Walk-ins to make your ceramic piece without instruction are welcome, no reservation is needed.
Flat Studio Fee: $9.00 per person per hour plus material and firing fees. Firing fees based on the piece sizes.

Pottery Painting Project

Each guest will able to choose one bisque-ware (vase or figurine up to $10 retail value) to paint. After the project painting is finished and fire it to 1915℉. The projects will be able to be picked up within one week.

Customer Firing

We offer customer firing at our electrical kiln. Normally we fire our kiln once a week at temperature of cone 04 to cone 05 (about 1830-1915℉)—low fire, or at temperature up to cone 10 (about 2250℉).—high fire

Kiln Fire Price and Policies

1. Prices: $0.04 per every cubic inch; $40 per shelf (limited 6 inches height, or will be additional charge for over size); and $200 per fully loaded kiln (25 inches height x 23 inches diameter); and $200 per fully loaded Cress kiln ( 16 inches height x 16 inches diameter) Minimum charge will be $3 per piece. We offer discount for schools and regular based customers.
2. Policies: All works must be completed dry. No glaze on the bottom of any piece. No fragile pieces and no large solid pieces (limited 5 inches in any direction). Clay Ground is not responsible for any damages during the firing process. We will pay the materials for pieces broken due to our negligence.
3. Firing Schedule: Normal firing time takes 2 days per each kiln firing (including heat up and cool down). Depending on our firing schedules and difference seasons, please wait for 1-3 weeks to pick up your works. Fired pieces have to be picked up within 30 days.
