"Po" Zhou -- Biography
Guangzhen Zhou (1953- ) was born in Shanghai China. He is a council member of International Academy of Ceramics, a board member of
Association of Clay and Glass of California Artists (2010-205), a guest professor of Shanghai Institute of Visual Art, director of
Chinese Ceramic Art Council USA and column editors of a few ceramic art magazines.
Mr. Zhou arrived the US 1989 and received MA and MFA. He has had four books published, titled American Ceramic Artists Today (1998),
Chinese Ceramic Cultural Sites-A Travelerˇ¦s Handbook (2004), and Appreciation and Collection of Modern and Contemporary Ceramic Art (2012).
He has presented lectures in many schools all over China, Tokyo University of Arts and Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale 2013.
Since 1999, he has been a ceramic cultural liaison between Chinese and American. He was a curator or juror of many ceramic exhibitions in
the US, China and Abu Dhabi, such as "Chinese Contemporary Ceramic Art Exhibition-Denver 2000 (NCECA)", "Yixing International Ceramic Art
Conference and Exhibition of 2001 and 2005", "International Small Teapot Show and Competition at Saddleback College, California, (2004 to
2012)", and "Beyond the FunctionˇXInternational Contemporary Teapot Exhibition" 2009 (NCECA), and the Chinese Decorative Ceramic Art at Abu
Mr. Zhou's artworks has been exhibited widely in the US, China, Japan and Europe, which included Ceramic Annual of America-San Francisco,
Sevres National Ceramic Museum in Paris France, Todays Art Museum in Beijing, Shanghai Art Museum, Zhejiang Art Museum, etc., also, his
artworks were collected by Tweed Museum of Art, University of Minnesota, Duluth, American Museum of Ceramic Art, Tokyo University of Arts
Japan, and many ceramics museum in China, such as Yixing in Jiangsu Province, Jingdezhen in Jiangxi Province, Shiwan in Guangdong Province
and Zibo in Shandong Province, plus many private collectors.
